Operation Hood was informed recently that all of the remaining cats on Hood Drive needed to be relocated within 6 to 8 weeks, preferably sooner than later. We estimate there to be approximately 100+ cats who remain on site. We are reaching out asking for help from the community with this urgent plea to help us with relocating these innocent cats.
Operation Hood is seeking a safe haven to relocate the cats. We need donated or rental land that we can build a fence/cat run on to house the cats safely, where they will be cared for daily. In asking for this request, we would like to keep the colony within the Spotsylvania area if at all possible, due to the volunteer support and care of the cats being centralized in this area. If you have land that could be used for this purpose, please contact us through our website at www.operationhood.org under the “Contact Us” section or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
There are many ways you the community can assist with this endeavor to save the cats. Things such as:
Monetary donations – Your financial support is critical in our mission to ensure that all the cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.
Food Donations – Operation Hood hosts regular Food Drives throughout the month that will be posted on our Facebook page, but we are always willing to meet donors to pick up donated food and appreciate the support. Items we are currently in need of: Friskies canned food.
Volunteer Support – We are always eager to have more volunteers join our team to change the lives of many cats. We have been fortunate to be able to give back to the community through various rescue efforts such as assisting individuals in need of trapping cats so they can be vetted, or special situations where we were able to assist with helping some unfortunate cats whose fate was uncertain, whom have since found their loving forever families. Please consider joining Operation Hood and making a difference. visit our website and submit a volunteer application today.
We would also like to take a moment to say thank you to those in the community that have supported our mission over the past 2 years come this January 2018. We could not have made it this far without your support! We have saved many cats from Hood Drive and strive to rescue the remaining ones out there. A special thank you to the following organizations for their continued support: Spotsylvania Animal Shelter, Alyssa Ellison, Fredericksburg Regional SPCA, Pets Ltd. Leavells Animal Hospital, CONFEDERATE RIDGE ANIMAL HOSPITAL, and the Virginia Kincheloe Spay & Neuter Clinic. We would like to thank the daily caretakers of both the Hood and Fence Colony, we wouldn’t be able to continue our mission without them.
